The town of Cortona
is visited by tourists from all over the world. Amongst them
are many important people who do not miss the opportunity to
visit Pasticceria Banchelli to savour its specialities.
Amongst the famous
people we would like
to mention the ex
President of the
Italian Republic,
Sandro Pertini and
the former head of
the French Government, Francois Mitterand, for whom the Palace
of Cortona was
made from candy.
The most famous, the Statue of Liberty was
however a gift to the United States of America and to all the
American students who come to Cortona thanks to the university
with which the town is twinned.
